The ideal adsorbed solution (IAS) theory of adsorption of gas mixtures is extended to the case of energetic heterogeneity. A heterogeneous ideal adsorbed solution (HIAS) behaves ideally on a particular site, but energetic heterogeneity causes a segregation in the composition of the adsorbed phase. E

Adsorption of binary ideal and nonideal liquid mixtures by heterogeneous micropore solids is discussed. Two equations for the filling of heterogeneous micropore liquid-solid systems, especially useful for strongly activated carbons, are derived by applying Dubinin's concept generalized by Stoeckli.
A systematic thermodynamic treatment is described for mobile, monolayer adsorption of gas mixtures on homogeneous surfaces. By defining a surface fugacity for each component, nonideality of mixing in the monolayer is related to constants in the two-dimensional equation of state. The results obtained
