β¦ Synopsis
A study has been made of the kinetics of the production of partially hydrolysed polyacrylamide during the adiabatic polymerization of acrylamide in concentrated aqueous solutions in the presence of Na2CO3, NaOH, tris-(2-carbamoylethyl)amine (CA) and the redox system potassium persulphate (PS) with sodium metabisulphite (SM), at initial temperature 25 Β°. Based on initial rate data, kinetic orders with respect to the components of the reaction system have been found. The molecular weight of polymer increases with increase of AA and Na2CO3 concentrations and with decrease of PS, SM, NaOH and CA concentrations.

The inverse microemulsion polymerization of acrylamide is retarded in the presence of hexamethylenetetramine. The retardation effect of a given hexamethylenetetramine concentration on the kinetics of the polymerization of acrylamide depends on the pH of compartmentalized water droplets. For non-cros
