## Abstract ## Background Photoreceptor (PR) and retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) are the principal cell targets in retinal gene therapy. Recombinant adenoβassociated virus (rAAV) has emerged as a very promising vector for gene therapy in hereditary retinal diseases. Gene transfer at different sta
