The Nz resistance of Thiobaci]lus ferrooxJdans was enhanced by repeated

culturing in medium containing Ni and gradually increasing the Ni concentration. The extraction of nickel sulfide was enhanced by the adapted strain following the direct leaching mechanism of the microorganism.
