β¦ Synopsis
nitis is a condition characterized clinically by fever, abdominal pain, nausea, and in some instances by diarrhea or constipation. This condition often follows, or occurs in association with, an upper respiratory infection, especially of the pharynx. The pain is usually severe, but as a rule, the patient does not appear to be particularly ill. The pain may be spasmodic and is often centered in the right lower quadrant, although it may be in any part of the abdomen. Both pain and tenderness are usually more diffuse than in appendicitis, and in general, muscle spasm and rebound tenderness are not present. Leukocytosis is common.
