✦ Synopsis
James M. O′Meara wrote the three short stories in Acts of Volition between May 2007 and February 2008. Each of the works deals with choices and consequences, a recurring theme in much of his fiction.
The Tears of Saint Lawrence – Raymond Hollister, a widower, lost everything after the death of his wife. He struggles daily to provide for his son. Shortly before his boy′s eleventh birthday, a love from Raymond′s past ...a woman as badly damaged as he is ...comes back into his life.
Wednesday, Then... - A married woman on the brink of an affair waits in a café for the man she must turn way if she hopes to save her marriage.
Water′s Edge – A terminally ill man decides to meet death on his own terms. He leaves his home in Pennsylvania for a trip to Maryland′s Eastern Shore, intent on taking his own life. Events do not unfold as planned.
Also included in this collection are two sets of the author′s selected daily blog posts from 2006 (and no longer available at his website, desktopdynamo.com). The posts range from thoughtful musings to wickedly humorous entries. The posts are sandwiched between the stories to break the tension a bit.
The author, a bilateral cochlear implant recipient living in northeastern Pennsylvania, is currently preparing future e-book fiction releases and working on a pair of unfinished novels.
