✦ Synopsis
A highly reactive product is obtained from spheron 6 purified in chlorine at 18WC, oxidised by air at 620°C and finally degassed under vacuum or in a current of argon at 900°C. This product is placed in contact with air under atmospheric pressure, at. temperatures between 25°C and 620°C; when the surface complexes thus formed are thermally destroyed in a current of argon or under vacuum, CO and COz appear in well-defined temperature zones; it seems reasonable to suppose that the action of the air takes place through the agency of'at least two rypes of active sites.
