โฆ Synopsis
Toxicity following actinomycin D delivered in divided doses over 5 days was compared to that following single-dose administration in 18 patients with nonmetastatic trophoblastic disease. Analysis revealed a predominance of hematologic effects following single-dose therapy, while hematologic and nonhematologic toxicity was evenly distributed after divided-dose administration. Although total toxicity was greater with single-dose administration, it was primarily due to mild adverse effects, while severe toxicity was similar in both groups. The toxicity of single-dose administration appears to be acceptable, but comparisons of efficacy must await further study.
