✦ Synopsis

Abstract

An actin‐like substance has been detected in the post‐acrosomal region of mammalian spermatozoa by indirect immunofluorescence. The antigen was localized using an anti‐actin antiserum from a patient with active chronic hepatitis. The actin‐like contractile proteins may be important in sperm function and sperm‐egg interactions during fertilization.

## Abstract The polymerization of globular actin to fibrous actin which occurs when sperm are activated, was not inhibited by cytochalasin‐B. The acrosomal filaments and its component actin filaments formed in the presence of cytochalasin‐B; and once formed, the actin filaments did not depolymerize
