✦ Synopsis
Book reviews general physics. Due to the restriction mentioned, ultrasonic applications and topics such as the generation and detection of ultrasound, or focused and pulsed fields, will not be found here.
The book contains a comprehensive list of references which has been translated from the Russian. In many cases, however, English versions of the Russian works and articles cited are available, and it would be of more use to the reader in the English-speaking world if reference had been made to these and not to the Russian originals. Fortunately, a general bibliography of English monographs on acoustics and ultrasonics has been added. This excellent book is highly recommended to graduate students, and to all those who wish to study ultrasonics or to apply ultrasound waves and would like a clear introduction to ultrasonic fundamentals before working on their specific problem.
