โฆ Synopsis
The scattering of sound by a tube array leads to two types of acoustic modes: those which are bound to the tube array and decay in the adjacent ducting and those which exist primarily in the ducting and tend to decay within the bundle. In this paper, the natural frequencies and shapes of these modes are predicted by using the finite element technique. Direct comparison is made with measurements from a number of tube arrays.
