✦ Synopsis

The acoustic impedance of a series of closed front fibre samples of densities in the range 40 to 67 kg m -3 was measured by using impedance tube apparatus. These measurements were then compared with the impedance properties predicted by the theories of Kosten and Zwikker. Reasonably good quantitative agreement was obtained between the measured and the calculated impedance plots over a restricted frequency range.
