✦ Synopsis

Most existing mappings from business process models to executable process languages are limited because of the gap between the abstraction levels of both layers. Such a gap exists between BPMN and WS-BPEL and consequently existing code generation tools can generate only primitive skeletons that require human intervention to complete them. To address that problem, we introduce an intermediate layer between BPMN and BPEL and propose an extension to BPMN called BPMN4SOA that enables the modeling of service compositions in a platform-independent way. In addition, we present in this paper mappings and code generators from these service composition models to executable service compositions in WS-BPEL and JAVA.
