β¦ Synopsis
In 1990 Icarus first acknowledged a few of its outstanding reviewers. Since that time, more than 100 individuals have been recognized by these annual lists for the readers. When looking back at those compilations, I am struck by the wide diversity of our honorees: some early in their careers, others among the most distinguished practitioners of the field; some long-time planetary scientists, others from disparate disciplines; some in comfortable tenured slots, others scrambling to find a steady position; and some DPS members, others from distant lands.
The breadth in characteristics of these individuals illustrates something that perhaps only I, as Editor, have been privileged to experience: the uncommon generosity of our discipline, scientists looking out for one another and for the integrity of our subject matter.
Through the mechanism of these awards, I have tried to highlight a few unsung heroes. But these lists are inadequate because, by necessity, they can recognize only a few individuals and yet most in our community give unselfishly of themselves in this way or in other ways. To all those others, let me express thanks.
This year, as normal, I would like to commend individuals for their excellent reviews during the past 12 months. I also list below a few other scientists who, over the years, have given solid reviews virtually every time that they have been called upon.
