โฆ Synopsis
Acknowledgement to our reviewers
Manuscripts submitted to the European Journal of Pediatrics are reviewed by at least two independent reviewers. Rarely do these reviewers agree that a manuscript should be either rejected outright or published as it is. Even if they feel that a paper cannot be accepted for publication they go to considerable lengths to explain the reasons why. Some of the less favorable reviews still show the reviewer's struggle to find a pearl in a less attractive shell and thus salvage the manuscript. Most often a process of revision is started, based upon constructive criticism and thoughtful suggestions. The result is almost always an improved manuscript and an author who has gained new insight. Peer review is learning and teaching at the highest level of our educational system.
The members of the Editorial Board are indebted to the many colleagues who generously give their time to evaluate manuscripts. Their work not only makes the journal more readable and lively but is essential to our continuing efforts toward high scientific quality.
