✦ Synopsis
Coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) was used to determine radial temperature profiles in Ns gas surrounding a horizontal tungsten filament with a surface temperature of 2260K. The results are compared with the predictions of the oretical models of fluid flow. The study provides a basis for CARS investigations of high-temperature chemistry, of hightemperature molecular spectroscopy, and of a variety of fluid flow phenomena.
