✦ Synopsis
This book covers an extremely broad field and is very well written. It is descriptive in nature, involves no difficult mathematics but yet it is not superficial. It is the type of book the physicist or physical chemist will enjoy reading to refresh in his memory many of the fundamentals of atomic physics. It should also prove to be a good text for college seniors and graduate students majoring in physics. Since the author includes no problems or examples, most instructors will probably wish to supplement the course along this line to amplify the principles discussed in the book.
The book is amply illustrated with photographs and drawings. It will be found valuable both as a text and as a general reference book.
