Abstract
We define an abstract setting to treat wave equations equipped with timeβdependent acoustic boundary conditions on bounded domains of R^n^ . We prove a wellβposedness result and develop a spectral theory which also allows to prove a conjecture proposed in [13]. Concrete problems are also discussed. (Β© 2006 WILEYβVCH Verlag GmbH & Co. In this paper, we analyze from the mathematical point of view a model for small vertical vibrations of an elastic string with weak internal damping and quadratic term, coupled with mixed boundary conditions of Dirichlet type and acoustic type. Our goal is to extend some of the results of Frota-Golds
The aim of this paper is to give a full analysis of the the shape differentiability for the solution to the second order hyperbolic equation with Dirichlet boundary conditions. The implicit function theorem does not work to solve the problem of weak regularity of the data; nevertheless by a more tec
## Abstract We consider the wave equation on the unit square of the plane with Ventcel boundary conditions on a part of the boundary. It was shown by A. Heminna [8] that this problem is not exponentially stable. Here using a Fourier analysis and a careful analysis of the 1βd problem with respect to
We describe a new, efficient approach to the imposition of exact nonreflecting boundary conditions for the scalar wave equation. We compare the performance of our approach with that of existing methods by coupling the boundary conditions to finite-difference schemes. Numerical experiments demonstrat
We study in this paper the global existence and exponential decay of solutions of the non-linear unidimensional wave equation with a viscoelastic boundary condition. We prove that the dissipation induced by the memory e!ect is strong enough to secure global estimates, which allow us to show existenc
