โœฆ Synopsis

The effect of temperature, postcure, and fiber orientation on water absorption were examined for Kerimid@ 723 bismaleimide resin. The effect of fiber orientation was also examined for Avimidm N and BASF X-5260. Water absorption in Kerimid@ 723 was found to have an Arrhenius temperature dependence, depend on degree of postcure, and be independent of fiber orientation. BASF X-5260 water absorption was also found to be independent of fiber orientation. Avimid@ N water absorption exhibited a strong dependence on fiber orientation.

Hygrothermal aging at elevated temperatures tends to induce degradation in epoxy resins. To predict the effects of this degradation, a knowledge of absorption and transport behavior of water is needed. In this work, a model material (DGEBA/ DDA) has been employed to study the water absorption and ab

Dielectric, gravimetric, dynamic mechanical, and infrared measurements are reported on the effect of different stoichiometric ratios on the water absorption of diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA), MY720 (Ciba Geigy) cured with stoichiometric variations of triethylenetetramine (TETA), (BDH). Resi
