โœฆ Synopsis


The kinetics of absorption of isobutylene in sub-azeotropic aqueous ethanol, to give ethyl-fert-butyl ether (ETBE) and tert-butanol (TBA), was investigated in a 0.075 m i.d. magnetically stirred autoclave in the temperature range of 303 to 333 K and a pressure of 0.345 MPa. The kinetics of absorption of isobutylene in mixed close boiling alcohols (ethanol + is@propanol; isopropanol + tert-butanol ) was also investigated in the temperature range of 303 to 343 K and a pressure of 0.345 MPa. It is possible to separate alcohols in view of large differences in rates of reaction.
