Dynamic gain fluctuations in a ring-laser gainclamped EDFA submitted to WDM traffic fluctuations are experimentally investigated. We measured the effect of relaxation oscillations that build up with laser action upon the BER on a 10-Gb/s optical transmission. Power penalties up to 1 dB are observed
