β¦ Synopsis
The absolute stereochemistry of the 2-hydroxyglutaric acid present in methanopterin and its β£-glutamyl derivative, sarcinapterin, has been determined to be (S). Thus, the absolute stereochemistry of the 2-hydroxyglutaric acid present in the side chain of these modified folates is the same as the L-glutamic acid present in the side chain of folates.

We have previously shown that (RS)-2-amino-2-(5-tert-butyl-3-hydroxyisoxazol-4-yl)acetic acid (ATAA) is an antagonist at N-methyl-D-aspartic acid (NMDA) and (RS)-2-amino-3-(3-hydroxy-5-methylisoxazol-4-yl)propionic acid (AMPA) receptors. We have now resolved ATAA via diastereomeric salt formation us
The phosphono amino acid, (RS)-2-amino-3-[5-tert-butyl-3-(phosphonomethoxy)-4-isoxazolyl]propionic acid (ATPO), is a structural hybrid between the NMDA antagonist (RS)-2-amino-7-phosphonoheptanoic acid (AP7) and the AMPA and GluR5 agonist, (RS)-2-amino-3-(5-tert-butyl-3-hydroxy-4-isoxazolyl)propioni
