The absolute configuration of novel chiral molecules , optically active multifunctional carbon compounds, has been determined for the first time by X-ray analysis after successful conversion into crystalline derivatives.

Previous papers in this series (l-5) have shown that the enanticmers of secondary and tertiary alcohols may be caused to have nonequivalent nmr spectra through the use of appropriate optically active amines as solvents. The converse of this phenomenon also obtains; amine
