✦ Synopsis
Abstract
To evaluate whether gastric scintigraphy could be considered a reliable test of autonomic neuropathy in diabetic patients, two patients, with vomiting and abnormal gastric scintigraphy are reported. Although the clinical presentations were similar, extensive investigation revealed that one patient suffered from autonomic neuropathy as part of a generalized neuropathy while the second patient showed a reversible gastroparesis without objective signs of neuropathy. Accordingly, before gastric scintigraphy can be considered to reflect autonomic neuropathy, other tests have to be carried out.
