Summary. Soluble extracts prepared from 24 renal carcinomas were tested for their ability to induce inhibition of migration of leukocytes from 27patients with nonmetastatie hypernephroma using the capillary tube leukocyte migration technique. No correlations were found between the histopathology of the carcinomas tested and this ability. However, highly significant correlations were demonstrated between the existence of nonmetastatie tumor and tumor-directed, cell-mediated hypersensitivity in the tumor donors and the ability of tumor tissue extracts from such patients to induce leukocyte migration inhibition in allogeneie tests.
The capacity of renal carcinoma tissue extracts to induce leukocyte migration inhibition in renal carcinoma patients seems in allogeneic combinations to be an in vitro correlate of in vivo tumor antigenicity.
