β¦ Synopsis
The relative standings of various AABB publications will be reviewed, i.e., particularly the various workshop manuals, the Technical Manual, and the Standards. Workshop manuals have essentially no official status; statements in them are basically the responsibility of the authors. The Technical Manual is widely misunderstood. It is properly a set of guidelines, which are in conformity with the Standards, and intended to give scientific background and methods for meeting Standards' requirements. The methods provided are by no means the only ones available, and the authority resides in the Standards , not the Technical Manual.
As of August, 1984, the 10th ed. of AABB Standards is in force, while the 11th ed. has been cleared by the Committee on Standards and the AABB Board of Directors, and is in final draft form. It is expected to be printed and available for distribution by October 1984.
