## Abstract This article investigates the linear dynamics of the sea breeze in an alongβshore thermal wind shear. The present analysis shows that the seaβbreeze circulation is tilted towards the slanted isentropes associated with the thermal wind. At a critical value of the thermal wind shear, the

## Abstract Landβ and seaβbreeze circulations are simulated in a mathematical model, using a stably stratified atmosphere as a basic state. The results show that the landβbreeze is weaker than the seaβbreeze even although the heat contrast at the coast is identical in both cases. This is consistent
