✦ Synopsis

The microstructural evolution of W 83.3 -In 16.7 mixture during mechanical alloying (MA) was characterized by means of X-ray diffractometry, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) as well as computer simulation. Experimental results indicated that W 83.3 In 16.7 solid solution was synthesized by MA. W 83.3 In 16.7 solid solution was stable until it decomposed into W and In at about 600 • C.
