✦ Synopsis
The reaction volume (A ~ c-o0) associated with inclusion of 3-nitrophenol by otcyclodextrin was determined by densitometry to be -9 cm 3 mol "1 while the corresponding value for encapsulation of methyl orange by two molecules of ct-cyclodextrin is +27 cm 3 mo1-1. These volume changes can be interpreted in terms of displacement of solvent from the cavity of ctcyclodextrin and/or changes in solvation of the "guest" molecule.

We investigated the inclusion process of Lamotrigine (LMN) in beta cyclodextrin (β-CD) with 1:1 stoichiometry using empirical, semi-empirical and quantum mechanical calculations models. We have found that the quantum and hybrid ONIOM2 methods gave the most favorable orientation in which the guest mo
