A method is described which allows the processing of pressure-volume diagrams from the left ventricle with a special videometric technique and a time shared digital computer. The actual pressure values recorded during the angiocardiography are added to the biplane videoinformation and stored on videodisc or -tape. These are read into the digital computer by means of an electronic Coding and Counting Unit (CCU). This unit samples the heart border information from the same videofield for volume calculation. Programs have been developed to display pressure-volume loops, pressure, volume, ECG vs. time plots and to calculate the "net work" of the left ventricle.
