β¦ Synopsis
We consider subquadratic perturbations of semilinear elliptic systems which are in variational form. A unified approach to both the cooperative and noncooperative problems is presented and a condition of nonquadraticity at infinity is introduced to treat the resonant cases through minimax techniques. A variational approch is proposed for the approximate description of decaying states represented by Gamow functions. The method is suited to describing many-particle systems with antisymmetry. It is shown that, in combination with a generator-coordinate basis, its actual application is as feasible a
Geometric and time-scale properties of nonlinear control systems are related to each other.
A simp!e ansat;: for the gound state of atoms and molecules is proposed which is also suitable for large internuclear dis-tanc~ where pertrxbation theory breaks down. In its simplest form, where only doubly+xcited configurations are included, the ansatz leads to 97.3% of the exact correhtion energy
