✦ Synopsis
A useful analytical approximation for ion-dipole capture cross sections is reviewed and used to obtain capture coefficients. Numerical scaling laws far obtaining cross sections from new numerical data are outlined. The results are compared with the predictions of Su and Bowers which are in good agrxment with csperiment even though certati of their assumptions rue in conflict with numerical trajectory results.
