โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

A new type of universal literal circuit, in which two thresholds of the circuit are variable and controlled by external signals, is proposed herein. The circuit is designed with CMOSโ€FETs, and both computer simulation by FSPICE and experiments on breadโ€board with discrete elements confirm its correct operation.

A new type of basic quaternary operator, quaternary Uโ€gate, is also introduced. The Uโ€gate comprises a pair of CMOS pass transistors driven by the output of the universal literal circuit. Mathematical properties of the Uโ€gate are derived, and synthesis procedures of quaternary logic functions using Uโ€gates are given. The quaternary Uโ€gate and quaternary constants form a complete set of quaternary operators and its mathematical properties implicate those of CPโ€gates and SCPโ€gates.

Universal Learning Networks (ULNs) are proposed and their application to chaos control is discussed. ULNs provide a generalized framework to model and control complex systems. They consist of a number of inter-connected nodes where the nodes may have any continuously differentiable nonlinear functio
