โฆ Synopsis
In this paper we consider the problem of determining the distribution of stress in the neighbourhood of a crack in an infinitely long strip bonded to semi-infinite elastic planes on either side. By the use of Fourier transforms we reduce the problem to solving a single Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. Analytical expressions up to the order of 6 -~ยฐ, where 2~ is the thickness of the strip for ~ >> 1 are derived for the shape of the deformed crack and for the crack energy. Some numerical results have been displayed graphically.
