rHE patient, a Sudanese woman of about 50 years of age, complained of a large and painful swelling on the left side of the face (Pigs. 61, 62). She rioticed it first as a small swelling near the left angle of the mouth a year previously, since when it had steadily increased in size, and had, during the last two months, become painful. On palpation the tuniour was lobulated and elastic and was not attached to the jaws or parotid gland, being freely movable.
