✦ Synopsis
A simple model is proposed for chromophores in monolayer assemblies which exhibit absorption spectral shifts for electronic transitions in two or three directions and a specific orientation with respect to the substrate plane. In this model, all the interactions of the transition dipoles of the three-dimensionahy aligned chromophores are calculated as a function of the alignment and the molecular aeometrv of the chromouhores. The model _ I satisfactorily expl&s the observed spectral shifts and the orientation of two for carbazolyl chromophores and three transitions for alloxazine derivatives in assemblies.
