The free energy difference between the b.c.c. and f.c.c. forms of iron over the temperature range from 500Β°K to 1183Β°K and the excess entropy of f.c.c. iron-manganese alloys at 1450Β°K are computed from activity data for comparison with results obtained from specific heat data. Reasonable agreement is obtained yielding a clearer description of this system.
