✦ Synopsis

Recently theories have been developed for the kinetics of electron transfer reactions through outer-sphere bridge activated complexes in homogeneous solution 1-3 and at electrode surfaces 4. For the latter reactions, expressions for the probability of electron transfer were calculated for the case where the bridge has a discrete electronic energy spectrum, under the assumption that the coverage of the electrode by bridges (i.e. adsorbed ions) is so small that interaction can be neglected.
