✦ Synopsis
A model is presented which allows esfimation of linkage from dihybrid F2 populatione with diatortad single gene segregation by applying the maximum-likelihood method.
For different selection procegsea operating on one locus at either the gametic or the zygotic level, it can be demonstrated that, if the deficit is previously taken into account, teating for free recombination can be carried out without prior knowledge of the musee of this deficit. In the presenca of linkage, the expected frequencim of two phenotypic clesses depend on whether gametic or zygotic selection is operating. The mmaining two cltusea can be utilized for the estimation of linkage BB their frequency ratio ia independent of these selection t p .
The application of this procedure to situations with coupling, incomplete penetranca, gametic and zygotic selection is diecussed.
