Abstract

The traditional notion of strategy for a university library has been that of a pattern of goal‐oriented activity based upon a strategie plan. This paper incorporates this perspective into two others: that of strategy based upon competitive position and upon internal library resources. In so doing, it proposes a framework for guiding theoretical development concerning university library strategy.
