โœฆ Synopsis

We have devised a series of training modules for use in clinical laboratories that enable multiple users at dispersed sites to readily access network resident programs for acquiring new skills, updating current practices, and for evaluating technical proficiency. The core of the system is based on 'Liquid Motion' ยฎ software. Modules developed and tested include aspects of laboratory functions that are image intensive (hemato-pathology, urine microscopy), as well as those that require text and synchronized images (atomic absorption, point-of-care testing). The modules are compatible with audio input as needed. These provide a set of training tools that are network resident and can be accessed from any site within an integrated health delivery system. The use of the tools is integrated with automated record-keeping of users, logs of functions accessed, and features that enable customization for satisfying regulatory compliance for laboratories. Therefore, this network enabled, self-guided set of training tools extends laboratory automation for handling effectively and uniformly technical skills for all personnel in a health delivery system.
