โฆ Synopsis
One manโs journey redefines birth, death, the afterlife, reincarnation and immortality. When Ed Trew wakes up with a killer hangover, little does he realise that it is the beginning of a mind-boggling journey of revelations and surprises that completely reshapes his view of the world.
With a cast of enthralling characters, unlikely settings and challenging situations, this novel confronts the reader with a creative and tantalising array of philosophical and theological ideas set to a frantic timeline. Harsh realities and despair go head to head with hope, belief and determination. Prepare to laugh, prepare to think, but above all prepare to meet a bold new talent.
This is a journey like no other!
About the Author
Pete Lockett, long regarded as one of the goโto guys when top class percussion is needed, has decided to step out from behind his drum kit and beat the keys of his laptop as well. The result is a remarkable new novel destined to make a noise in the Best Seller lists. 'A Survivor's Guide to Eternity' is a mindโbending journey into the afterlife that immediately demands comparison with Carlos Castaneda or Aldous Huxley. Exploring deep philosophical constructs, but skilfully lightened with the humour of Douglas Adams or Terry Pratchett, Lockett manages to create a work that will both challenge and entertain.
Robert Plant, Peter Gabriel, Bjork and even James Bond have all called on Pete's skills from at one time or another.
James Bond?
"Yes, I arranged and recorded all the ethnic percussion for five Bond movies and many other Hollywood blockbusters," said Pete. "They were a lot of fun."
His list of credits reads like a Who's Who of the music industry: Dido, Bill Bruford, Jeff Beck, AR Rahman, The Verve, Texas, Pet Shop Boys, Dido, Kodo, Amy Winehouse, and many more. And when he's not working with other musicians or Hollywood Studios, he's busy on his own music and has released nearly twenty CDs under his own name.
Asked how he found time to write a full length novel amongst all his other activities, Pete replied, "I wrote it on numerous planes and tour buses, in recording studio lounges, lying beside the river Ganges with a laptop, in a sushi bar in Tokyo with an iPad, reclining backstage before a show, on a train in China and in many other unusual locations. Thus the book slowly evolved from the seed of an idea into a passionate pursuit."
Although 'A Survivor's Guide to Eternity' is his first novel, it's not his first venture into writing. Pete's first book, 'Indian Rhythms for the Drum Set' was Book of the Year 2008 in the Dutch music press and made the top 5 best drum publications 2009 in America.
