β¦ Synopsis
The historical development of medicolegal pathology in England, and its close links with the Coroner's system, is outlined. Some important changes in thisjeld which have occurred in the post-war period are reviewed, including improved mortuary accommodation, changing attitudes to court attendance by medical witnesses, the relationshi@ of the forensic pathologist and coroner with the medical profession in general. Current recruitment to the specialty is discussed, with emphasis on the need for a full-time, salaried forensic pathological service to improve career prospects.
