โœฆ Synopsis

A superimposed mixture theory is constructed for a biaxially fiber-reinforced medium composed of fiber-reinforced materials in alternating layers in which the angle of reinforcement alternates from layer to layer. In this theory every one of the two constituents of each layer has its own motion but is allowed to interact with the other. In addition, the layering microstructure is taken into account by allowing interactions between the layers via the interface shear stresses. For the resulting system, the eight coupled equations of motion for every constituent in each layer are derived and then used to investigate the response of the composite material under time-dependent loadings.
