✦ Synopsis

Abstract

In this paper, we study improving the efficiency of search methods to search a huge, superdistributed data space like the Internet. Specifically, in a search for information by agents, we first classify the search problems into several models based on the type of agent. Next, we determine the optimal search method that minimizes the communication and processing costs and the time costs for the basic model. Then we extend the optimal technique, propose highly efficient search methods for the other models, and evaluate their characteristics. Β© 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The information possessed by many individual users connected to a large-scale network can be considered as a gigantic database, termed a superdistributed database. To date, effective methods of searching scattered information in such a superdistributed environment have been proposed. The problems ar

## Abstract The selection of active siRNAs is generally based on identifying siRNAs with certain sequence and structural properties. However, the efficiency of RNA interference has also been shown to depend on the structure of the target mRNA, primarily through studies using exogenous transcripts w

A new concept the 'virtual circuit' is raised in this article. Its application in large-scale network analysis with tearing is presented. This new approach unifies three different tearing methods, i.e. the branch tearing, the node tearing and the hybrid tearing. Based on the virtual circuit, the tea

## Abstract The study adopts a naturalistic approach to investigate users' interaction with a browsable MeSH (medical subject headings) display designed to facilitate query construction for the PubMed bibliographic database. The purpose of the study is twofold: first, to test the usefulness of a br
