## Abstract An on‐line calibration procedure for application in continuous monitoring systems has been developed. Control of the calibration value and recalibration on‐line during monitoring is possible without having to disrupt the sample withdrawal. The calibration procedure has been applied and

✦ Synopsis
At Hokkaido University, a long-term continuous G/T measurement system has been developed. The method used to estimate the noise in the previous satellite broadcasting channel cannot be applied due to the fact that satellite broadcasting is not multichanneled. In this paper, a new method of estimation for the noise power is proposed. In this method, first the noise power in the channel to be measured (Channel 7) is derived as a first approximation by interpolation from the noise spectra in the band below Channel 5 and the one above Channel 11. A method shielding the satellite broadcasting wave (called pseudo eclipse) without disturbing the noise power spectrum is proposed. In this manner, the noise power spectrum can be measured in situations where the satellite broadcasting wave is not incident on the receiving antenna. The error (N bias ) contained in the first-order approximation obtained by the above interpolation can be derived. It is possible to improve the estimation accuracy by correcting N bias . With the noise estimation method proposed in this paper, G/T can be measured at high accuracy.
