โœฆ Synopsis


Weighting factors used in performance indices for optimal design determine to a large extent the optimal system which results. Analytical expressions relating the weighting factors for the ISE performance index are derived for several basic systems. Graphical relationships between weighting factors and some time response performance measures are presented. Negative weighting factors are produced in some cases by the derived expressions. The usefulness of negative weighting factors is illustrated by several sets of curves. A sample design problem is presented, the solution of which utilizes the design aids presented herein. * This paper is a portion of a Ph.D. dissertation submitted in April 1968. The research was performed under the supervision of Professor C. F. Chen, Electrical Engineering Department, University of Houston.
