✦ Synopsis
According to our previous study, booming sensation caused by 1/3 oct. band noise became stronger as the center frequency of 1/3 oct. band noise decreased. Using this relation as the weighting function, a weighted sensation level is proposed here for estimating the booming sensation caused by a running car's interior noise. This new psycho-acoustical measure, i.e., weighted sensation level, predicted well the magnitude estimation and the mean score for estimating the requirement of improvements of booming sensation. From these observations, design guidelines for booming sensation were proposed, expressed by the weighted sensation level.
