โฆ Synopsis
A method for the study of large amplitude vibrations of viscoelastic plates and shallow shells is presented. The concept of iso-amplitude contour lines in conjunction with Galerkin's method is used and the resulting non-linear differential equations are solved for appropriate time functions. The thermally induced large amplitude vibrations of a square viscoelastic plate and of a shallow shell of equilateral triangular planform are examined. All details are explained by using graphs.
