The hydration of CasSiO= (CmS) was studied using the ESCA-technique and Krypfon-ddsorption measurements. The different hydration rates in the induction period and in the acceleration period are attributed to definite changes in the Ca/Si-ratio at the C3S surface and in the specific surface area.
